Daily Reading Tips
After reading a story with you child, close the book and have them retell the story with as much detail as they cane remember. If this skill is difficult, try stopping every few pages and have your child re-tell you everything that has happened so far. If that is too hard, be sure to talk to your child about what is happening in the story as you are reading with/to them. Decoding words is important, but the purpose of reading is for understanding!
