MYSTERY READER On Friday, the students enjoyed stories from our first mystery reader, Mrs. McNamara! The students absolutely love when family members come to model good reading with fun stories. Please let me know when you can volunteer for this worthwhile activity. | |
Thank you so much for a productive conference week!

CVC Words and Sight Words
This quarter we will work on building your child's sight word vocabulary and their ability to blend CVC words. These skills should be practiced at home and school. (See the October 6 post or conference hand out for ideas to practice)
Each child will have their sight word pocket chart to begin practicing sight words by this week. Please have your child store their pocket in their blue folder when not practicing their words.
CVC words are closed syllable words. The vowel has a short sound and is "closed" in by two consonants thus the pattern consonant-vowel-consonant. It is actually best to practice writing and reading these words together.
Here are some words to practice reading and writing with your child using letters we have already learned in class: cat, mat, hat, mad, lad, had, got, lot, hot, dog, log, dim, him, hit, lit. What other words can you think of?
