It's Official! We have a Room Parent!
Yay! I am so excited to be partnering with Corrine McNamara as our room mom. She will be reaching out everyone very soon. Also, it will be important for her to communicate with you about classroom/school events, so I will be looking to obtain permission to share your contact information with her.

The blue folder will have notes, flyers, and schoolwork. Please review and empty regularly.

These are the primary tools for daily home/school communication. Please check them daily for:
1. sight words to practice reading and writing
2. notes about the foundational skills you can work on with your child
3. notes about behavior

10:25 - 10:45 Recess

*Due to testing in the upper grades, our schedule will change for the next 2 weeks.
Kindergarten will have specials in the morning from 8:20 - 9:05.
Curriculum (Subject to change based on the needs of the students)
Math - Naming 2D and 3D shapes, analyzing and comparing shapes
Science - Observable animal attributes, matching baby animals and their parents
ELA - Reading books related to the farm and building student understanding and vocabulary. The following week we'll be reading about the family.
Skill - Asking and answering questions about key details in a text
Skill - Retelling key details in a story
Skill - Identifying characters and setting

*Class Phonics and Letter Formation

Writing - Helping students understand that people write for different reasons - to persuade, to inform, to entertain. There are different types of writing ( labels, notes, messages, letters, stories, posters, lists etc.) There are different genres (styles of writing) like informational, narrative, and opinion. Students will practice drawing and labeling their pictures. Students will have an opportunity to write a message using sight words and phonetic s
*Drawling lessons are helpful for Kinders. There are some good free ones on-line. I like the Art for Kids Hub.

General Information
Lunch is from 10:50am - 11:20am. Parents are always welcome to join their children for lunch!
Please note that the lunch schedule changes on early release days.
Food from other vendors cannot be brought into the cafeteria.
Birthday treats for students can be shared in the cafeteria at lunch time per school policy.
We are on a six day rotation schedules for Special Area Classes.

B: Counseling
C: Music
D: Art
E: PE (Please remember to wear sneaker on P.E. Days.)
F: PE
Thank you to the families that remembered the extra changes of clothing in the backpacks (including socks and undies). Several children have been glad they were there.
Thank you to the families that remembered to have girls wear leggings or shorts under dresses and skirts. Be cautious of the skirts with attached shorts. Many of them provide minimal coverage for our active girls, still leaving them somewhat exposed.
